Top 3 Spring Tips

Spring is the perfect time to reevaluate your skin care routine and products.  Here are some tips when it comes to these products.

Top 3 Skin Tips:

  1. Add An Eye Cream - The sun is shining more and that means squinting unless you're very faithful at wearing your sunglasses. The repeated movement of squinting leads to fine lines and wrinkles around the delicate eye area.  Look for an eye cream that is high in antioxidants and peptides. My recommendation is iS Clinical - Youth Eye Complex. It provides great hydration along with soothing and brightening.
  2. Apply Sunscreen - Spring is a high risk time for sunburns since we've been bundled up all winter with heavy coats, our skin hasn't seen much sunshine. Now is a great time to get reacquainted with your SPF. This not only means on your body but especially on your face and ears. Apply in the morning and before any outdoor activities. My recommendation is Image Skincare SPF 50
  3. Exercise - This is my favorite skin care tip I love sharing! Exercising provides so many benefits to your skin. When you exercise, this promotes blood circulation providing oxygen and nutrients to your skin cells. Stress often takes a toll on our skin causing problems like  acne flares. Studies have shown that exercising reduces stress and when done regularly, it can help improve these conditions. If you have rosacea, eczema, and psoriasis note that too much vigorous exercise can worsen these conditions.

Spring is the perfect time to change up your skin routine by adding an eye cream, wearing sunscreen, and exercising more.

Bonus Tip: Ditch your heavy moisturizer in the warmer months and replace your mascara and facial sponges.

Transitioning to a Fall skincare routine

Cooler months are ahead is your skincare routine ready for the change? This week's blog post is all about handy tips to get you through the colder months.

  • Drink Your Water - Super hydrate. Drinking at least 8 glasses of water per day will keep your skin moisturized and help eliminate toxins effectively. Have an extra glass of water for every glass of alcohol/cup of coffee you take to prevent possible dehydration. Try to get as much water as possible from fresh fruits and vegetables.
  • Humidifier - One good option would be to put moisture back into the air. A cool mist humidifying system can help your skin maintain it's moisture.
  • Exfoliate - A good body scrub and facial exfoliant can help remove dry flaky skin from your body. Add this to your cleansing routine once a week. Careful to not over exfoliate that can lead to dryness.
  • Sunscreen - Don’t say goodbye to your sunscreen just because summer is over. Before you leave your house, apply a sunscreen with at least an SPF of 30 or more. Remember to reapply at lunch time as well. All SPFs last about 120 minutes max before it's no longer effective. Even if you spend most of your time working in an office you can get UV exposer from windows and office lighting.
  • Gloves - It’s simple but it works! Why expose your hands to the cold. The harsh cold winds are rough on our skin. Protect your hands by keeping them shielded from the cold elements.  Also invest in hand cream. Hands often become dry and cracked during fall and winter. Start moisturizing your hands now to ensure soft, supple hands all fall and winter long.
  • Don't Lick -  Licking your lips only causes them to lose moisture and become drier. Keep a lip balm in your purse and apply it when you’re tempted!
  • Treat acne correctly - A common myth is that the sun clears up acne, but in many cases the opposite is true if you spend too much time in the sun. This applies to tanning in a salon as well and is not recommended.
  • Replace Your Makeup - The beginning of a every season is the perfect time to replace your mascara, powder or liquid foundation. The shelf life for mascara especially is about 3 months after opening and using on a daily basis. It is important to replace these two items in your makeup routine often due to the constant exposer to elements. They can be breeding grounds for bacteria and possible infections.
  • Schedule your facial - Regular (or Seasonal) facials are great ways to get your questions answered. Having an issue with dryness, a breakout or dull skin? Not only can I answer your questions but help you with your skin concerns.
  • Be Kind - The best thing for our skin is be kind to ourselves. Taking care of our skin is not a luxury it is self love and healing. During the time you're in my spa room it is all about YOU and making your feel wonderful inside and out.

October is filled with lots of fun services for the cooler weather from Pumpkin Spice Facial, Dermaplaning to Paraffin Hand Treatments. There is certainly something that will keep you warm and festive for the Fall season!
